Making Homemade Ceviche Offers a Simple, Delicious Meal Option for Your Family

Ceviche is a great non-traditional party appetizer for the winter months, and offers a definite departure from the norm in many respects.  However, how do you make this tasty fish dish at home?

First, you’ll need to get the ingredients together.  For ceviche, you will need white sea bass – at least a half pound of it.  You will also need some diced onions (about a cup of onions for every three cups of fish).  Chopped red and green peppers are also needed.  You need enough lime juice to coat the fish completely.

Chop the fish into small squares and put into a glass bowl.  Now, add the onions and the peppers that you cut up earlier.  For ceviche, you can also add hot sauce to your dish, though this is optional.  Coat the ceviche with the lime juice and make sure that it is all coated well.  Now, cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it sit overnight in the fridge.

Check the ceviche for doneness the next morning.  The fish in your ceviche dish should have turned white from being bleached by the acidic lime juice overnight.  You now need to chill your ceviche in the refrigerator, where it will keep for about a week.  You can also choose to substitute shrimp for fish in your ceviche for a slightly different taste.

Serve your ceviche on your favorite crackers to your guests as an appetizer.  It goes well when paired with beer or soda, though drinks like rum and coke are also popular with this appetizer.
