Jillian Michael’s Fitness DVDs: Are They Any Good?

Jillian Michaels is well-known for her role as the toughest trainer on the TV show, "The Biggest Loser."  She’s a personal trainer with a proven history of getting results!  Her workout routines are intense and precise because she doesn’t waste any time.  You don’t need to stretch beforehand since she guides you through a great stretching segment before she starts each workout, and she even has a nice cool down section that will make you feel a bit ‘Zen’ at the end. 

 

The best thing is that her videos are an average of 35 minutes long, and they don’t require much equipment.  Here is a list of all of her current workout DVDs and a brief description so you can become familiar with each one before you buy them.

 

"30 Day Shred":  This video is awesome.  It is only 20 minutes long, and you only need a mat and a set of dumbbells.  There are three levels of intensity, so the idea is to start at level one and work your way up to level three in 30 days.  The video consists of circuit training workouts that are very intense.  It is based on her 3-2-1 method (three minutes of strength, two minutes of cardio and one minute of abs).  There is a stretch segment at the beginning and a cool down segment at the end of the video, so you get a complete workout.

 

"No More Trouble Zones":  This is one of the toughest videos she has.  It is 40 minutes long, and you will need a mat and a set of dumbbells (five pounds each).  This video is non-stop circuit training moves, and combining upper and lower body exercises for maximum results.  It is a complete body workout!  There is a stretch segment at the beginning and a cool down segment at the end.

 

"Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism":  All you need for this workout is a mat!  It is a 40 minute circuit training video that will incinerate fat!  The main point of this video is to maintain a high heart rate throughout to achieve the ideal results.  There is a stretch segment at the beginning and a cool down segment at the end.

 

"Yoga Meltdown":  This is supercharged yoga!  It is 30 minutes long, and all you need is a yoga mat.  There are two levels, and the workout will challenge every muscle in your body.  It will help you increase your strength and flexibility, and is challenging as much as it is fun!

"Ripped in 30":  This DVD is for a total body makeover and the start of a new lifestyle.  This video includes a 30 day diet plan, along with a workout program, so you achieve incredible results!  There are four 24 minute workouts you can do based on her 3-2-1 system.  You will start at the first level, and by the time you reach the fourth level you should be ripped!

 

"6 Week Six Pack":  Who doesn’t want a six pack in just a few weeks?  This workout video consists of two levels, each 30 minutes long and includes warm-ups and cool downs.  Just like her other DVDs, start at the first level and work up to the second.  This workout combines circuit training ab moves, as well as ab-toning exercises.

 

"Shred It With Weights":  This video will make you work harder than most.  It is composed of two levels, each 30 minute workouts.  You will need a kettle bell or a single weight.  This video combines boot camp exercises to push you to the limits!  Start at level one and work your way to level two.  You will be in amazing shape in no time!
