How to Turn Your Child’s Birthday Party Into a Hawaiian Inspired Tropical Luau Bash

Throwing a luau party for your children is one of the most fun and popular themes out there.

Send invitations to the children, while keeping with the Hawaiian theme. If you’re making your own they can be shaped like coconuts, Hawaiian flowers, or anything else beach friendly. You’ll want to make sure you suggest that the children dress according to the theme in their best grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts.

A luau can be held outdoors. If it’s cold outside though, it’s very possible to have the party inside. Tiki torches are great for an outside party, but fake grass and coconuts can be hung outside or inside. Place fake sea shells all around the party site and make sure you have plenty of leis to give out to the children. The children will love this Hawaiian theme!

You’ll need music too and what could be better than the Beach Boys or other tropical tunes? Check out your local thrift store for a selection of oldies but goodies on CD. Visit the toy store and have hula hoops handy for the children, as well.

When planning the food and drink, you’ll want to think of the children and their parents. In terms of food, chicken and rice, or a roasted pig are great. You’ll want your beverages to be every bit as tropical. Have non-alcoholic twists on old classics like Mai Tais and Daiquiris for the children. Pouring your creations in a coconut-shaped cup and topping it off with a tiny umbrella will be a perfect touch that the children will truly love.

Now, grab your grass skirt and let’s get started!
