Tips on Fighting Dry Skin

In autumn and wintertime, almost everyone suffers from dry skin.  You can prevent and treat dry skin by using a few simple steps…

Exfoliate Regularly. If you have dry, flaky skin, you’ll want to remove the dead skin cells that are causing your skin to look dull. If your have dry skin on your face, try using a face scrub or mask that will help you peel off old cells that can cause itching and dryness. For dry skin on your body, gently buff the affected parts with a loofah in the shower to help rub off the flakes and expose the new skin beneath.

Increase Your Water Consumption.

Your body needs regular water intake to function properly. If you allow your body to become dehydrated, the first place it will show is in your skin. You should drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day. The body can then flush out toxins that can prevent you from having hydrated and clear skin.

Use Lotions Regularly.

Your entire body should have enough moisture to prevent dry skin from forming in the first place. It is important that you use plenty of lotion whenever you take a shower or wash your hands, in order to ‘lock in’ the moisture. You should also apply more moisturizer whenever you feel a dry patch setting in. Try carrying a small tub of moisturizer with you in your bag wherever you go and apply it whenever your hands or skin feels dry – you’ll soon see a difference.

Limit Sun Exposure.

Both sunlight and wind tend to cause parched skin conditions, by drying out the top layer of skin. If you have to be outdoors all day, you should always use a sunscreen to protect you. By applying an SPF product, you will also limit your chances of getting skin cancer.

Glowing skin is possible when you follow the right beauty regimen – give these tips a week and you’ll certainly see an improvement.
