Will a Cold Water Wash Get Your Clothes as Clean as Hot Water?

When you wash your clothes in cold water, you are going to be able to save some money and reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that you produce.

Something else that you might not know is that washing in hot water is harder on your clothes, and it can cause them to fade faster.  It seems like it is a winning idea for everyone, however, are your clothes going to be as clean when you do your laundry in cold water?

You will find that you can still get most of your clothing just as clean when you choose to use cold water when washing your clothing.  You must use a cold water detergent though.  When you head to the store, look for detergents that are specifically made for washing in cold water.  Manufacturers know that people want to save money and go green, so they’ve been making these types of detergents for a while now.  You can get them in any supermarket.

While you can still get good results when you wash in cold water, you will find that some stains are harder to remove.  It is a good idea to scrub those areas by hand or treat them with a stain remover before you put them into the laundry.

Try to use cold water when washing whenever it is possible.  There still may be some times that you need to use hot water for your laundry, but minimize the times that you use it.  Waiting until you have a full load that needs to be washed in hot water is a good idea, too.
