Children’s Health: Why Fish Oil is Important to Children’s Nutrition

We have all heard that fish is considered to be brain food, but beyond making you smarter, there are many different reasons why eating more fish is important for your children’s health. Among the health benefits of eating fish for children’s nutrition includes the ability of fish oil to assist in the treatment of a variety of conditions.

Fish oil is incredibly rich in omega 3 fatty acids, including EPA and DHA. An important benefit of these fatty acids is that they have been demonstrated to provide numerous children’s health benefits, including positive effects on brain health and immune system health.

Many children’s nutrition experts now believe that DHA is strongly associated with childhood intelligence. Beyond this impact on children’s nutrition, DHA can also be used to help kids who suffer from such problems as lack of concentration and focus, hyperactivity, lack of memory, limited attention span and impulsiveness.

Children’s nutrition studies have also shown that fish oil can assist with developmental coordination disorders, as well. The use of fish oil may also help in improving symptoms associated with ADD and ADHD. Preliminary children’s nutrition research has also shown that fish oil may help with some learning disorders such as dyslexia.
