How to Make a Honey Glazed Ham for Easter

Making food for your Easter gathering is an important part of the holiday, and your culinary skill determines the success of the meal.  Although there are many variations for making this tasty main course, this recipe will leave little leftovers for guests coming back for seconds!

Ingredients

To make this ham, you need to pick up the following ingredients from the supermarket:

A half (or whole) ham (get the ready to eat kind)

1/8 cup of prepared mustard

3 tablespoons of honey

Whole cloves

3/4 cup of brown sugar

Steps

To make your ham, you need to preheat your oven to 325 degrees.  You will also need to have an oven bag large enough to hold your ham, as well as a baking dish large enough for the ham to cook in.

To begin, place a tablespoon of flour in the oven bag, and then put the ham inside (the fat side should be up).  Use a twist tie to close the oven bag.  You’ll need to pierce the bag about eight times with a knife to ventilate, and then bake your ham for about 12 minutes per pound in the oven. (Make sure you’re using an oven bag, not any other kind of bag for safety reasons!)

About a half hour before your cooking time is up, remove the ham from the oven.  Cut the bag down the middle so that the ham is entirely exposed.

If there is skin on your ham, remove it now.  Score the ham in a diamond pattern (score marks should be 1/4 inch deep).  Brush mustard over the entire ham and put a clove in each diamond.  Now, drizzle honey over the ham and put it back in the oven in a shallow baking dish to catch the juices.  Cook for the last 30 minutes at 375 degrees.

Garnish your honey-glazed ham with pineapple, peaches or fresh sprigs of parsley for a delicious meal.  You’ll enjoy it so much you’ll be sure to have seconds throughout the week!
