Bond With Your Children Doing These Fun Family Activities

Families that play together stay together. That’s how the old saying goes. That’s why we have compiled this list of different family fun activities you can do with your children no matter what their ages.

Tip #1 – Plan a family vacation. Make sure that you choose a place that everyone in the family can enjoy and include your children in the preparation. Take everyone’s interests, then try to combine them to come up with new and fun places to visit. For instance – does your three year old love playing with Lego and your seven year old loves princesses? Plan a trip to somewhere like Florida where you can get both of these family fun activities in. Does daddy love camping but your daughter is more interested in music? Check out the annual Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival in Arkansas. Not only will the family fun you enjoy on vacation help you bond, so will the preparation.

Tip #2 – Institute a family fun game night at your house. Make sure you plan family fun on a night when you can be home on time and don’t pick a night that interferes with softball practice. Pick a different game every week and enjoy some healthy snacks and drinks as you play. This is one of the most inexpensive family fun activities you can do with your children and it gives you time to talk and stay connected.

Tip #3 – Go to the movies. Find a movie at your local theater that is child friendly or rent an old classic for a movie night at home. Family fun doesn’t have to cost much or even mean leaving the house if you don’t want to. Remember, the most important ingredient in family fun is family. Make the most of yours!

Tip #4 – Go for a weekly family walk or bike ride around your own neighborhood. If you have a safe neighborhood that isn’t on a main road, invest in a set of bikes and take a cycle ride together around your neighborhood. So many families these days have lost touch with their neighbors, who were the ‘support system’ of old and were always there if your mains pipe burst or if you needed someone to walk you dog. The best time to go for a family walk or bike ride in your neighborhood is about an hour before sunset – around 7pm in summertime. That away you will get to meet your neighbors as they go about their daily chores such as watering the garden or working in the garage, and you’ll get to enjoy something that most people don’t get to see these days – some beautiful sunsets. Bring your family dog along as an ice-breaker, and if you walk your neighborhood regularly you’ll be sure to make lots of new friends in your own community.
