Why Water is a Key Tool in Permanent Weight Loss

There are dozens of diet drinks out there that claim to be the secret weapon in the fight against weight loss. The truth is that a balanced diet will do more for your weight loss program than any miracle drinks or foods could hope to offer.  However, there may be a secret weapon for weight loss, and it doesn’t fall in the ‘diet’ category at all.  This weapon is water.

Drinking extra water has shown in studies to drastically reduce the amount of calories that the average diner consumes.  By drinking a full eight-ounce glass of water before a meal, you can cut your caloric intake by seventy to ninety calories per meal.  It might not seem like a lot when you think of one meal at a time, but when you add up all the meals you eat in one month, it turns out to be quite a lot of calories saved.

If you take this new knowledge and apply it to the foods that you eat, you might infer that eating water-dense foods will help you, as well.  Most fruits and vegetables have a high water content, or you might consider a broth-based soup as an appetizer.  These are a few ways that you can increase your water intake, and decrease your calorie intake. And all this naturally, without the need for expensive diet drinks or supplements.

If you plan to try pumping up your water intake rather than seeking out magic diet drinks, you should start a tracking program to see just how many fewer calories you end up eating each day.  You may be surprised at how many calories you will naturally prevent yourself from consuming.
