Why You Should Teach Your Children How to Exercise

Parents choose their kids’ toys with care, take them to regular health checkups and arrange for safe socialization at a young age. Yet too often, parents overlook the key to their children’s good health, happiness and success at school – proper exercise and regular physical activity.

Kids who are taught how to exercise properly benefit in many diverse ways. Exercise helps kids develop physically, but it also helps them develop social skills and enhances their ability to learn. Physical exercise promotes healthy cognitive and emotional development and can help reduce behavioral problems. Exercise can help children get the regular sleep that’s a must for proper growth and development.

Parents should teach their kids how to properly exercise and encourage regular physical activity to:

* Prevent kids from becoming overweight or obese.

* Improve self esteem and ensure emotional health.

* Reduce kids’ risks for developing type 2 diabetes.

* Keep blood cholesterol and blood pressure at healthy levels.

* Help kids stay attentive and focused at school.

* Ensure the development of strong bones and muscles.

Kids who are taught how to engage in physical activity on a daily basis develop valuable life-long habits. When parents make proper exercise a priority in family life, they teach kids how to fit it into their lives regardless of busy schedules.
Although most kids attend physical education classes at school, this isn’t a substitute for parental instruction at home. It’s up to parents to teach children that exercise should be a fun part of their daily lives. Promoting regular daily exercise teaches kids that physical activity is a natural, healthy way to feel good each and every day.
