How to Plan a Romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner at Home

Valentine’s Day is approaching, and that means that couples will be searching to find the perfect romantic gift for their loved one. Going out to dinner is one of the most popular activities on Valentine’s Day, but it’s not always the most romantic choice. You can have a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner at home and avoid the crowds and the hassles on this busy day.

A Valentine’s Day dinner is usually prepared by one member of the couple for the other, so it’s important to know what your partner likes. Most often, they’ll have a few favorite foods, but they may like them for different reasons. Try to offer a dinner that has a blend of their favorite foods. If chocolate is a comfort food for your partner and pasta reminds you both of a romantic trip to Italy, offer them both.

Atmosphere is also important for a romantic dinner. To make it truly something special, choose colors that your partner likes when you’re setting the table. Not everyone likes the traditional red, white and pink colors associated with Valentine’s Day. If your partner prefers things on the lighter side, use white linens, candles, and so forth.

If the person you’re with likes things a bit more heavy and romantic, set out a Valentine’s Day spread with plenty of deep reds, blacks and other luxuriant colors. To save time you can pick up a cheap tablecloth and table trimmings from your local party supply store. The most important thing is to know your partner and to make them feel special.
