Relationship Tips How To Surprise Your Man

Men have traditionally been the ones to initiate and pursue a relationship with a woman, rather than the other way around.  From pick up lines to dates to proposals, a man is traditionally expected to do all of the work.  If you really want to see your man smile and show him you love him, you should set up a surprise for him.

How to Fool Us

It’s much easier to surprise a man than a woman for a couple of reasons.  First, most men aren’t very intuitive.  As single-minded beings, we have a hard time multi-tasking, and don’t often deviate from our routines.  As such, we don’t ever expect to be surprised, so rest assured that we won’t uncover the surprise ahead of time.

If you’re daring enough, you could set up a surprise for him right in front of his eyes.  Wait until he’s watching TV and make a phone call in the bedroom to buy tickets to see his favorite team.  Although his TV obsession may be a frustrating trait in your relationship, it can be beneficial to surprising him.  You really don’t have to hide anything from him because he’s likely not to find out or walk in on you during the call.

Practice the Old “Switch Out” Trick

All successful surprises need to mislead the victim initially.  Tell him you are going to see a play and instead, buy tickets to his favorite sports event.  This works for any type of event: the steakhouse instead of the fondue place, the action movie instead of the dramatic romance, a couples massage instead of the nail parlor.

The Way to a Man’s Heart…

Another easy surprise is to cook for him!  Steak and lobster is a traditional favorite, but you can go more elegant and opt for lamb or other fancy foods.  Pair it with his favorite beer or wine and you will see his eyes sparkle over dinner.

Participate in His Hobbies

You can really make your man smile by getting involved in his hobbies.  Does he love golf even though you roll your eyes every time he talks about it?  Try taking some lessons and surprising him with a round of 18 on the weekend.  This works for anything he enjoys doing that you are hesitant about.  Or take him somewhere he has always wanted to go.  Bungee jumping, dirt biking, even fishing are fun things that a lot of men haven’t tried, but have always wanted to.

As you can see, there are countless ways to surprise your man, and most are fairly easy.  Surprises can be as simple as letting him go out with his buddies on the weekends.  Surprises are meant to express your affection and appreciation for your loved one, so make sure whatever you do communicates your love for him and isn’t just a one-off taken gesture.
