Is Morning Exercise More Effective Than Evening Exercise?

Getting the right amount of exercise is very important to a healthy lifestyle.  However, many people struggle with personal fitness, due to many different factors.  One of the most commonly cited reasons for not exercising is a lack of time.  However, a lack of energy during certain parts of the day is also a factor, so knowing the best time to work out is crucial to your health.

 

The most important thing to consider is that if you exercise in the morning, without eating breakfast, you’ll lose weight faster.  This is because your body will not have access to the blood sugar that comes from eating breakfast, and will have to turn to your fat cells for fuel.  This means that if you are exercising primarily to lose weight, the morning is the best time for you to exercise.

 

Your personal energy levels are another consideration.  In order to ensure that you are able to enjoy good fitness, it’s easier to exercise when your energy levels are their highest.  For some people, this is in the morning.  For others, this is during the evening when they get their second wind.  However, when you work out during your peak energy hours, you’ll get more out of your fitness routine at the gym.

 

Of course, the time factor has to be considered, as well.  Not all people are able to exercise when their energy levels are highest.  Does this mean that those people should avoid working out?  No, you should exercise when you can fit it into your schedule, regardless of what your personal energy levels might be during that time of day. 

 

If you are unable to work out during your peak energy hours, you still need to exercise when you can fit it in.  Oftentimes, when you begin to work out, your body will naturally adapt and have a spike in energy to get you pumped for your exercise.

 

In the end, the question of morning versus evening exercise is secondary to the question of if you should get any exercise at all.
