5 Great Pizza Recipes You Can Make at Home

Pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world for good reason. It is delicious, cheesy, chewy, filling, and messy, but not too messy.  Pizza restaurants are wildly popular worldwide, and are always packed with happy families.  If you’d rather avoid the crowds and stay home, here are 5 great pizza recipes you can make from home.

Depending on your enthusiasm, you can make homemade dough or pick some up at your local grocery store.

Homemade Dough Recipe:

You will need:

2 Cups Flour (Bread Flour works best.)
1 Cup of Warm Water
2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
2 Teaspoons of Salt

2 Teaspoons of Sugar

¼ ounce of Active Dry Yeast (one package)

Steps:

Pour the warm water in a bowl and mix in the yeast. Let it sit for ten minutes until it turns a bit creamy.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, oil, salt, sugar with your hands.

Pour the water mixture into the flour mixture and stir well. You can use your hands or a beater to get the mixture into a stiff dough.

Cover the bowl with a wet towel. Paper towels will work. Let it stand for about 30 minutes to an hour.

After your dough has doubled in size, set it on a well-floured surface and spread it out into pizza shape. You can now add your sauce, cheese, and toppings!

Fun Pizza Recipes

5. White Pizza

Skip the traditional sauce and instead opt for garlic Alfredo. You can make it from scratch or get a jar of it in the pasta section of your local grocery store.

For cheese, use fresh mozzarella. You can get creative with the toppings but I love: spinach leaves, sun-roasted peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, kalmata olives and feta cheese.

This pizza has wonderful Greek flavors that is sure to please your guests.

4. Meat Lover’s Pizza

Use a classic tomato sauce and top with mozzarella cheese. I like to add a bit of cheddar and parmesan to give it a kick.  For meat, go to the butcher and crazy – the more, the better. Pepperoni, sausage, bacon, Canadian bacon, chicken breast, chooped steak, etc.

Make sure all the meat is cooked before you put it on the pizza.

3. Garden Pizza

For all of those vegetarians out there, you can make a delicious garden pizza full of vegetables.

Some great toppings include: mushrooms, olives, spinach, peppers, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and garlic. You can get creative and try squash, broccoli, avocados, even mangoes or bananas!

2. Margherita Pizza

This classic Italian dish was inspired by the colors of its flag: red white and green.

The ingredients include tomato sauce, slices of mozzarella cheese, and basil with drops of olive oil. To make this tasty dish, less is more. Don’t cover the entire pizza in cheese – you should see some tomato sauce when it’s cooked.

1. Classic Pepperoni

My favorite pizza is the classic pepperoni because it has a perfect balance of flavor and texture. Chewy dough with crispy crust, sweet sauce with creamy cheese and spicy pepperoni. Use tomato sauce and cover with mozzarella cheese. Add other cheeses depending on your taste. Top with a generous amount of pepperoni.

HOW TO COOK ALL PIZZAS

Heat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and cook your pizza for 10-15 minutes until the cheese is fully melted and crispy on the top. Serve with warm garlic bread – and enjoy!
