How to Surprise Your Dad for Father’s Day

Your father is a smart man – he raised you!  This means he knows pretty much everything about you, so trying to surprise him on Father’s day is a tough task.  If you want to show your Dad how much you appreciate him, use these tips to surprise your Dad for Father’s day.

5.  Wash His Car

A good hand-wash is one of the best ways to surprise your Dad for Father’s day.  His car is likely his pride, and he may treat it like a second child.  Sneak out before he wakes up and give the car a nice and very careful cleaning.  Since it’s Father’s Day, go the extra mile and give it a wax.  Vacuum and detail the inside as well and he’ll love you forever.

Instead of telling him you washed his car, ask him for a ride somewhere and watch his surprise as he sees his sparkling vehicle.

4. Personalized Picture

Rather than getting him a clichéd present like a tie or shirt, try personalizing a favorite family photo.  This is an inexpensive way to show him your appreciation.  If you or a friend knows how to use Photoshop, you can customize a picture of the two of you by making it black and white or sepia, adding writing, etc.  Decorate a frame and wrap it in some nice paper.

A great idea is to create in Photoshop a picture of something you haven’t done yet but always wanted to do: edit a picture of the two of you on a boat, on horseback at a riding stables, or at the Grand Canyon.  This will give you motivation to try those things and take real pictures at the actual location.

3. Cool Gadgets

Get your father a new cell phone or ask everyone to pitch in for an updated plasma TV.  Any type of technology is sure to surprise and please your father.  Do some research and figure out what new invention has just come out – from video games to navigation systems, gadgets are some of the best gifts you can give your dad, or any man for that matter.  If you can afford it, get him the latest Apple product – the iPhone, iPad, iMac, basically i-anything will be a guaranteed winner.

2. Event

Book an event that he has wanted to go to but never had the time.  Get him tickets to a U2 concert, or sign him up for guitar lessons.  You can get him a set of golf clubs and reserve a day to play a round of 18.  Basically, anything involving cars, music, sports or food will bring a smile to his face.  You can get tickets for him to test drive a stock car at the track, or get him reservations to a Chili festival.  Make sure you do something he already enjoys, not something you want to do or think he might like.

1. Cook

Surprise your Dad when he wakes up with a nice home-cooked breakfast in bed.  Traditional eggs, pancakes, and sausages will do fine.  Squeeze some fresh orange juice as well for an extra-special treat.  Waking up to food is one of the best things a man can ask for, so if you really appreciate your Father, wake up early and prepare a delicious home-cooked breakfast.
